Chicka Chicka Bathroom!

   Our preschool bathroom got a major overhaul!  I wanted to go with a fun kid theme, seeing as that who uses this particular bathroom.  But, I didn’t want it to be too girly, nor too rough and tumbly boy.  Ducks and fish have been done before…so, how about a bathroom themed around a favorite book?!

I love that this bathroom mural is not only fun and bright, but is also educational.  We started by painting the bathroom walls blue, with a semi-gloss paint. The old paint was off-white and flat paint.  Flat paint + wee ones= nasty wall that will not wipe clean!

Hubby added plank flooring that you see in the picture on the right.  The linoleum that came with the house was ugly and worn, so we used a vinyl plank flooring, just like we did in the preschool room.  {See more on that here}

Then, we added a frame around the mirror.

Ahh, looks so much better already!

Now, onto the mural…

This was NOT an easy process, seeing as the coconut tree is huge!  But I got it accomplished!  I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the coconut tree (I bought the coconut tree in the Silhouette Store).  I made it large and sliced it to fit onto many different different sheets of vinyl.  It was a puzzle getting it to all fit correctly!

Then I cut letters out in multiple colors and added them to the tree!  The kids love it, they find the letters in their name.  Not only is it adorable and it brings the bathroom to life, but it also has an interactive educational component!
