So, last year I made ceiling tile art. This year I am all about the cork board tiles. I actually had some above my desk last year. Boooooooring.
I didn’t know their level of boring until Pinterest. Of course. So, I found this post on The Happy Home blog and thought immediately: I MUST MAKE THAT. I ran out to Hobby Lobby, grabbed some dark cork board tiles (about thirteen bucks), and got my paint on.
I should admit that I have very little patience for time consuming crafts, so the measuring and taping drove me about twelve kinds of crazy. There was a lot of re-measuring and re-taping.
But the final product? SO WORTH IT! The pictures are *not* going to do the board justice, but I am obsessed! It turned out so nice that I might make another one to hang in my house! {This one is going in my new office at school, so it’s just Scotch taped to the wall below – hence the crookedness.}
From start to finish, it probably took me 2 hours to complete and under $20 when you include the tiles, paint, and tape. For a better tutorial, check out the blog mentioned above!

It’s so weird not getting a classroom ready. I mean, WEIRD. I have this feeling that I should be getting ready, but there’s not a whole lot of getting ready to do in my new space. Plus, I kind of get to choose form over function when decorating it since I don’t have to work around student desks and mapping out designated areas for particular activities. I’m telling you, it’s a weird feeling! I can’t even get into my room until August 1st, so I’ve just been working on crafty stuff in the mean time. Here’s my little collection of goodies so far…
